Good morning,
After 22 years of dedicated service, our beloved PE teacher, Coach Brewer, will be leaving our school following November 3rd. Coach Brewer has made a lasting impact on countless students through his passion for physical education, teamwork, and sportsmanship. His commitment to our school community and the joy he brought to every class will be deeply missed. We are incredibly grateful for the years of energy, care, and encouragement he has given our students.
Please join us in wishing Coach Brewer all the best in his next chapter — he will always be a part of our school family.

Yesterday, the Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting at Fairmont Community Center for the new book vending machine. We are so thankful that so many people turned out to support this continued commitment to improving literacy in Griffin-Spalding! This was a great collaboration between the city, county, chamber, school system, Partners In Education and many other organizations.

JHE Families,
Please remember not to pass other cars during morning drop-off. For the safety of all families, students, and staff, it’s important that everyone drives carefully in the school parking lot. Officer Barbes will be on duty with a sign to let you know when to stop or proceed slowly.
Keep in mind that there’s typically no line from 7:15–7:30 a.m., and students are considered tardy after 7:45 a.m.
In the afternoons, our car rider line is one of the fastest around—usually finished in about 12 minutes. Thank you for helping keep everyone safe by staying in line and not passing the cars ahead of you

Today for #GaPreKWeek, all GSCS pre-k students had guest readers come and read this year’s featured book, “Every Amazing Story” by Coy Bowles (from the Zac Brown Band) and Malcolm Mitchell (a former NFL player and literacy advocate). The book encourages children to see themselves as creative storytellers and celebrate their individuality.
GSCS has 22 pre-k classrooms serving over 400 students.
GSCS Pre-K Director Dr. Chris Bearden said, “GSCS Pre-K is excited to have these community leaders share the love of literacy with our pre-k scholars! We look forward to #GaPreKWeek each year to celebrate and showcase the hard work and dedication of our pre-k staff.”
Now in its 15th year, Georgia Pre-K Week raises awareness for the importance of quality early childhood education. Georgia’s Pre-K Program began 30 years ago, in 1992, and has grown from serving 750 children in its first year to approximately 73,000 annually.
