About
Welcome to your GSCS Nutrition Source!
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Griffin Spalding County Schools Nutrition Program is proud to provide healthy, nutritious meals at no charge to students across 19 food service sites throughout our district.
Our mission is to support the educational process by serving high-quality meals and offering nutrition education opportunities for both students and families. These efforts help promote our shared goal of Healthy Children, Ready to Learn. We are pleased to share that Griffin Spalding County Schools (GSCS) will continue to offer meals at no cost to all students through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2025–2026 school year. Through this program, GSCS provides school breakfast, school lunch, and an after-school snack program.
How Families and Students Can Participate
Encouraging Participation
We encourage families to support daily student participation in our breakfast, lunch, and snack programs. Students are encouraged to select all components of each meal to enjoy a more satisfying dining experience and increase their intake of fruits and vegetables. Student participation also helps shape future menus and meal offerings—this is their opportunity to have a voice.
Wellness Program Involvement
We welcome parent and student involvement in the implementation, review, and ongoing improvement of the district’s local school wellness program. If you are interested in participating, please share your contact information by emailing ivriyon.haley@gscs.org.
We know that well-nourished children are better prepared to learn. Providing nutritious meals and nutrition education plays an essential role in helping students develop lifelong healthy eating habits. The Griffin Spalding County Schools Nutrition Program is committed to excellence, dedication, and passion in child nutrition. Our program enhances the district’s educational mission—because hungry children cannot learn.
The School Nutrition Program operates under the federally funded National School Lunch Act and the Child Nutrition Act. These programs are administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the Georgia Department of Education (GA DOE). Our goal is to safeguard the health and well-being of students by providing nutritious meals in a safe, supportive environment at no cost, while helping students understand the connection between healthy eating and overall wellness.
Thank you for your continued support of our School Nutrition Program.
Sincerely,
Robert Wheeler

Seeking Community Participation & Support
District-Level Support and Input
The Griffin-Spalding County Schools (GSCS) District Wellness Steering Committee is dedicated to supporting schools in the implementation of wellness goals across all school sites. The committee serves as a resource by offering training, guidance, and materials to help schools successfully achieve their site-based wellness objectives.
We encourage all community stakeholders to review the district’s wellness policy and share feedback on its implementation. Those interested in providing input or participating in the wellness process are invited to contact the School Nutrition Coordinator for more information at ivriyon.haley@gscs.org.
School-Level Support and Input
All GSCS schools maintain active school wellness teams or committees focused on promoting student health and well-being. Schools welcome the involvement of parents and community members who wish to contribute to these efforts. Individuals interested in volunteering or participating are encouraged to contact their local school principal to support the development of healthy habits for our students.
